Pairs Match

Updated: Oct 5, 2020

Today was the pairs match at Clayton's Fishery and I'd been drawn with venue expert and bream master George Mckay.

For those that don't know Clayton's it's more a silver fish/Bream water, however there is large carp in the lakes but

today they only counted for a pound.

I was on front pond and it was pole only and George was on Ben's that was feeder only, my plan was to fish 13mts with #SonuBaits Banoffe groundbait with worms and casters in the mix and have a short line for feed maggots by hand and hopefully catch some roach and perch.

I've used #mikenolanFloats tears today for the long line they sat in the water brillant and was perfect for when the breeze got up, short I used his slime floats for fishing through the water again they was perfect.

Its fished hard and a low weigh was on the cards.

I've had some roach and the odd skimmer for 6lb-5oz, George had 7lb-11oz and for that we have just scraped 2nd overall as a pair which was brillant well pleased.😁

We both won £70 gift vouchers to spend at #ultimateDIRECT

Dad was drawn with Steve Crosskill, again the same format Steve was on the front pond with me fishing pole only, sadly Steve has had a nightmare and only scraped 2lb together. Dad was on Bens Lake and that was feeder only, he's drawn peg 6 and I'm told is a carp peg so he didn't fancy his chances, he's plodded away and caught small silvers on the short feeder line to weigh 7lb-6oz, so he didn't do to bad as 9lb won the lake.
